CROSSING THE OCEAN OF GRIEF
A Seven Stage Model of Healing

There will be a three day retreat in September 2008, by the Atlantic Ocean in Southern New Jersey. We have not determined an exact location yet, but will do so soon.

This retreat is based on the book, A Grief Like No Other, surviving the violent death of someone you love.

The retreat will lead you through the seven stages, beginning with telling and writing your story, developing the eight qualities, building a support network, learning how to ride the waves of grief during the first year, what happens in the later stages of grief, how to generate creativity and learning to live in the new world.

This retreat is for anyone who has lost a child to violence, whether through homicide, drunk driving, domestic violence, suicide, drug-overdose, war or terrorism.

It is led by Kathleen O’Hara, MA, therapist, survivor, activist and author of A Grief Like No Other,, whose own son Aaron was murdered in 1999.

This retreat will give you hope, inspiration and help you deal with the overwhelming consequences of violent grief. It will take place in a beautiful ocean setting and create a safe, caring environment with mothers who have experienced the greatest loss there is, the death of a child.
